This animated display, originally built by the Eaton's company for its Winnipeg store in 1946, has quite an interesting history that you can read about on the WDM site.
The WDM has done a great job preserving these treasures, although some of the characters show their age more than others. My kids have always been mesmerized by the moving Santas, angels, animals and snowmen in this one-of-a-kind display.
Click here for WDM admission information. If your family does not have a family membership to the Western Development Museum already, I can highly recommend one. Free access to the museum itself is worth the fee, but when you also consider free entry to all of the great WDM events like the Festival of Trees, admission to other Saskatchewan WDMs and gettting 10 percent off menu items in the Boomtown Cafe, it well exceeds the investment.
