Despite his adamant claims that we couldn't, my daughter and I did in fact catch the elusive Gingerbread Man this week!
Wide Open Children's Theatre brought acclaimed puppeteer David Stephens of All Hands Productions to present The Adventures of the Gingerbread Man. David traveled from his hometown of Atlanta, Ga., and braved our frozen February temps here in Saskatoon, to entertain hundreds of children over the course of two weeks.
As he conducted his original, one-man, many-puppet show, it was clear how David's talents could gain him appearances on Sesame Street and Jim Hen'son's Emmet Otter. He makes his own puppets and brings the original characters to life with humour both young and not-as-young can appreciate.
It is this caliber of talent that Wide Open is celebrating in its 15th theatre season in Saskatoon. Tickets are now on sale for Munsch More For You, March 24-April 3, and Dadventure, May 13-23.
There are still a few openings left for February Break Puppet Camp for 5 to 12-year-olds, which runs Feb. 16-20.
Make plans to catch some Wide Open puppet action with your family in the months to come!
