In the spring, at the end of the day, you should smell like dirt. ~ Margaret Atwood
I love this quote. If my son isn't absolutely filthy by the end of a beautiful day like we just had, then I almost feel I have failed him in some way.
If he is spotlessly clean, I likely haven't allowed him to explore outdoors. Or, I may have asked him not to splash in the puddles with those pants on.
If his face doesn't produce a sticky grin, he might have missed out on a drippy popcicle or a juicy slice of watermelon. Or worse, I have probably been guilty of doing that gross spit-clean thing that we moms are notorious for dishing out in a pinch.
Tonight, as he splashes in the tub, the day's sediment sinks to the bottom. Each speck is proof of our wondrously grimy spring day.
I love his bike! We don't see enough tricycles anymore. You can see how much fun he's having. Way to go Jackson, ride on and find some really big puddles. : )
ReplyDeleteSo true! Love that quote as well.
