My husband recently bought our son his first pair of ice skates and helmet. I don't know which of my guys was more excited to head out to the beautiful Meewasin Ice Rink!
I could see visions of future hockey games dancing in my husband's head as he laced up Little J's skates. My son's excitement seemed to be more a product of his father's enthusiasm and the chance to try something new.
I was happy on this day to stay off the ice and take pictures, partly so I could capture these special moments unfolding between father and son and partly to save my back side from imminent injury. (Having grown up in Oklahoma -- where ice skating is pretty much a novelty -- I am not very skilled on ice!)
However, I think I must try to improve my skills because these two made it look so much fun! Both were all smiles as they made their way around the rink again and again.
In the end, Little J seemed to think it was just as fun to fall down as it was to stand on his skates, so we took that as our cue to end this first skating adventure. There most definitely will be many more to come!
wow good for you guys! Not sure i am ready for that yet? But Grace also hates being cold and cries easily when she falls down. Perhaps not her sport...... Evan will be definately ready when he is older!
