The topic I chose to talk about was instilling the spirit of giving in our children. I truly believe that children who care and share are more likely to become caring and sharing adults who influence positive change in the world around them.
While giving should be something that we are consistently teaching our children throughout the year, the holidays provide the perfect opportunity to introduce family traditions that involve giving back and re-adjust the focus of the season away from simply what they are going to recieve.
Click here for a list I put together of local ideas for involving your kids in giving their time, talents and treasures for the common good of their community. It is important to remember that no matter our age, abilities or resources, we all have the ability to share what we have to help others.
During the interview I also introduced a fun gift idea for kids to make for their friends. Here, Veronica and I are having fun playing with the finished product of the Play Dough in a Jar Gift. I had also hoped to talk about ideas for making wrapping paper, but there wasn't time. {Man, does four minutes ever fly by when you have a lot to say!}
The morning show producer said she would try to book me in again in early to mid-December so that I might share some other ideas in time for the holidays!
