The City Park Toy Library is a nonprofit toy-lending group that allows parent-members to borrow three toys at a time for a period of two weeks. This novel concept saves families money, reduces household clutter, prevents waste and builds a community of like-minded parents.
Starting Sept. 28, 2012, the City Park Toy Library will be open on Mondays from 3:30 to 6 p.m. in the City Park Collegiate basement, 820 9th Avenue N. It will not be open on school holidays. Children and parents are welcome to come and play during these hours before choosing toys to take home.
The Toy Library currently has about 175 toys for newborns up to age 6. They are accepting gently used toys that are washable and sterilizable. No stuffed animals or toys with plush parts will be allowed.
To become a member of the City Park Toy Library, families pay $20 for the fall or $30 for the full year. These fees will go directly towards increasing the number of toys in the toy library.
