May 5 is the International Day of the Midwife, a time to honour midwives and promote awareness of the care they provide.
There will be a local celebration from 1 to 3 p.m. on Wednesday, May 5, at the Kiwanis Park Band Stand. In the likely case of foul weather, the event will be moved to the Presbyterian Church across the street.
Volunteers will be painting faces and bellies. Plus, midwives and doulas will be available to provide information about their birth work.
