Are you still healing physically or emotionally from a C-section? Are you an expecting mother interested in learning more about cesarean births? Do you want information about having a vaginal birth following a cesarean?
If so, you may be interested in attending a monthly meeting of the International Cesarean Awareness Network (ICAN) Saskatoon. ICAN’s three main objectives are prevention of unnecessary cesareans, physical and emotional recovery information following a C-section and support for vaginal births after C-section.
“People are often unaware of the significant physical recovery and emotional impacts of a cesarean birth,” said ICAN Saskatoon Chapter Leader Nicole Eramian. “Not only is it major surgery, but it also raises the risks of postpartum depression and post traumatic stress in some women. Support and education can be helpful."
ICAN meetings are generally held on the first Thursday of each month at 7:30 p.m. at Augustana Lutheran Church at 7th and Broadway. Babies are welcome, but child care is not provided.
For more information, contact Nicole via e-mail or at 306-934-0962.
