 Singing with Sylvia for Christmas

You might not think about a trip to the Saskatoon Forestry Farm and Zoo after the snow starts to fall, but this is one of the best times to go! Admission is free during the winter months, Nov. 1 through March 31.

Right now a huge draw are two adorable lion cubs, born Sept. 24, 2011. The cubs are so much fun to watch romp in the snow, pester each other and play with their beautiful mom Cooey. Big Daddy Dobi is currently kept in another nearby area right now.

The lions and bears may hunker down into their shelters on the really cold days. But, most winter days you should find them and the other zoo animals out and active.

Waterfowl may be viewed all winter long in the barn across from the fox and wolves. You can see them through windows on the outside, or it can be a great place to warm up on your winter visit to the zoo. You can access the indoor pond through the unmarked door on the south side of the barn.(One peckish goose, in particular, is sure to garner a giggle or two.)

Be sure to bring your cameras to capture the lovable zoo animals and the majestic trees of the Forestry Farm, each donning their winter finest!

The zoo is open every day except for Christmas. Winter hours are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
