The Park Café’s neon sign beacons from 515 20th Street West, calling all hungry souls in for some serious comfort food. A perfect example of not judging the proverbial book by its cover, this little hole-in-the-wall serves up all my diner favourites with a fresh and local twist and a heaping side order of creativity.
My favourite -- the Benny, Murphy & the Boys -- is a “traditional” Eggs Benedict with your choice of locally sourced Canadian back bacon or in-house alder-smoked salmon and home-made hollandaise sauce. Their seasonal fruit cup side is not the two-grapes and under-ripe honeydew melon you’re used to. It is fresh, colorful and delicious.
My little guy made full use of both his and my fresh fruit cup, the diner’s selection of high-chairs and the washroom change table during our last visit.
I haven’t made it to all diners in Saskatoon yet (although I fully intend to), so it may be premature to declare the best of the best. But, I can confidently say the Park Café is one to beat.
Breakfast is served from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on weekends and from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. on weekdays. Try their delicious lunch specials on another adventure!
Our favorite breakfast dinner is the "Coop". We started going to the Co-op on 33rd with my in-laws and we are typically the youngest in the restaurant by a generation or two! Cheap and quick breakfast special, so long as you don't hit the after church crowd...
ReplyDeleteThanks for the tip, Jessica! We'll have to try that one out soon.
