Whoosh! Did you hear that? That was the first 13 days of 2010 whizzing by!
I simply haven’t had much time to write about how things are going on the home front. To catch up, here are a few of the highlights from the last couple weeks, with a little inspiration from some of my favourite children’s books thrown in just for fun.
Oh, the Places You’ll “Go!” Baby J took his eighth round-trip plane trip, this time to Oklahoma for Christmas to visit my side of the family. My husband and I had to carry out another airline tray-table diaper change. We discovered it is a lot trickier to do for a squirmy 13-month-old as compared to a three-month-old. At least this one didn’t require a complete wardrobe change.
How the Gallbladder Stole Christmas -- My husband ended up with a monster gallbladder attack during our holiday in Oklahoma, and we made our second and third visits to the ER as of late. Poor guy is on a list for surgery, but it looks like it may be a while.
Goodnight Moon (I’ll Still Be Up When You Wake) – My momsomnia continues. I’m so tired by the time my little guy gets tucked in and my big guy heads to bed. Yet, I can’t help but feel that MY time has just begun, so I muster up a second wind and end up staying up way too late answering e-mails, researching future saskmom.com articles and basically doing whatever the heck I want.
Now that tonight’s task (posting my first personal blog of the new year) is complete, perhaps I now should catch up on some much-needed zzzz’s.
Nighty-night!

Where is Baby’s Car Seat? When we landed in Saskatoon on Jan. 3 after a long day of travelling, we discover the airline had lost our brand new car seat. I thought it was too ironic that the night before I had scheduled the “Airport Adventure” entry to post on that same day. While my husband headed home to get our old car seat, my son and I tested out each of the airport ideas again. Oh, and our car seat was delivered two days later . . . with a broken arm rest.
The Cat in the Hat … Throws a Fit if You Try to Remove It – My soon-to-be 14-month-old has begun exerting his independence and sense of style. The last couple mornings, he has insisted on wearing his big red toque from the time he wakes up at around 6:30 a.m. until about 10:30-ish. If I try to coax it off of him before then, he goes ballistic.
