baby J's first Beaners cut, 13 months
As the parent of a hairy, squirmy toddler, I was thrilled to hear about Beaners Fun Cuts for Kids at 1104 Central Avenue in Sutherland. As the recovering parent of a hairy, squirmy infant, I only wish I would have heard about it sooner!
As you can see from the picture above, my son does not appreciate haircuts one bit, although he requires them on a regular basis. When he was an infant, I was able to do a little trimming while he napped. However, as naptimes dwindled down to one a day and he became a much lighter sleeper, this task has become quite harrowing. (If you are interested in full details about our early attempts to take scissors into our own hands, read my blog.)
Baby J's sour face is reflective only of his hatred for scissors, trimmers and anything destined to remove his Samsonesque locks. It in no way reflects the fun that he could be having at Beaners.
You can choose a seat in a car, on a selection of merry-go-round animals or on mom's lap. Older kids really seemed to be enjoying their video game chairs. My little guy was temporarily amused by the Happy Feet movie they had running and a few of the toys handed to him until his tonsurephobia took over. (Evidently the fear of haircuts has an official name.)
Beaners also has a ball pit that, as Little J has gotten older, he really looks forward to sliding into. Unfortunately, at the age of 2, he still does not enjoy the trimming that leads up to that point.

Despite the wriggly nature of kids -- and the fitful nature of mine -- Beaners guarantees a quality haircut. They encourage parents to share any concerns they might have about the quality of their haircuts. They guarantee they will make it right or the next haircut is free.
